Semi Tandem Balance

HOW TO DO IT

Standing with one foot half a step in front of the other. Trains balance with a narrowed base of support.

Verbal Cues

  • “One foot in front, big toe of the back foot beside the instep of the front foot”
  • “Stand tall, eyes forward”
  • “Hold steady”

What to Watch For

  • Time the hold
  • Watch for swaying or stepping out of position

Safety

Stand close to the client on their weaker side. Always have the client hover their hands over the bench.
