THIS EXERCISE IS CALLED

Hand Supported Single Leg RDL

VIDEO GUIDE
HOW TO DO IT

Standing on one leg and hinging forward at the hips while resting one hand on a sturdy support. Strengthens the back of the legs and trains single-leg balance.

Verbal Cues

  • “Light hand on the support for balance only”
  • “Hinge from your hips, let one leg float behind”
  • “Keep your back flat, like reaching for the floor”

What to Watch For

  • Movement comes from the hips, not the lower back rounding
  • Supporting knee has a soft bend, not locked straight

Safety

Stand close to the client on their weaker side. The hand support must be a sturdy bench, kitchen counter, or fixed rail, not a wheeled chair or anything that can slide. Make sure the floor is clear.
