Seated, raising both arms up and out into a Y shape with the thumbs pointing up. Strengthens the upper back and posture muscles.

Verbal Cues

  • “Arms out in a Y shape, thumbs pointing up”
  • “Lift the arms up and slightly out”
  • “Squeeze your shoulder blades down and back”

What to Watch For

  • Shoulders stay relaxed, no shrugging
  • Thumbs lead the movement
