HOW TO DO IT

Seated with the mid-back resting against the top of the chair back, gently leaning back over it. Loosens the mid back.

Verbal Cues

  • “Sit with your mid-back against the top of the chair”
  • “Open your chest and lean back over the chair”
  • “Look slightly upwards”

What to Watch For

  • Movement is in the mid-back, not the lower back arching
  • Range is small to start

Safety

Use a sturdy chair with a firm back, positioned so it cannot tip backwards or slide.
