Hand Supported Squat Hold

Holding a squat at a set depth with both hands resting on a sturdy support. Builds endurance in the legs.

Verbal Cues

  • “Hold the squat at the prescribed depth”
  • “Keep breathing throughout”
  • “Push your knees out in line with your toes”

What to Watch For

  • Knees stay over the toes
  • Trunk doesn’t collapse forward into the support

Safety

Stand close to the client. The hand support must be a sturdy bench, kitchen counter, or fixed rail that will not move, slide, or tip under their weight. Make sure there is a chair set up behind them.
